Drawing room
A drawing room is a room in a house where visitors can be entertained, as opposed to a living room. The name is derived from the 16th-century terms withdrawing room and withdrawing chamber, which were still in use in the 17th century and first appeared in print in 1642.

It was usually off the great chamber (or its descendant, the state room) and led to a formal, or “state” bedroom. kmhp.in

Whereas the average family living room may see a fair amount of traffic, a drawing room is more likely to have more expensive furniture. Or, at the very least, furnishings that are intended to be more resistant to pets and children.
